During the month of Ramadan Muslims abstain from eating, drinking and intimate relations with their spouse between sunrise and set, i.e day during this blessed month. In this time Muslims increase their faith by actively increasing in worship, prayer, reciting the Qur'an and contemplate on their belief. This provides an opportunity for spiritual and physical purification. Before dawn Muslims usually wake to take a small meal called "suhoor", this may be cereal and a wholegrain sandwich, with juice and water. Muslims make more effort in praying, helping others, reciting the Quran (the holy book of the Muslims), giving charity. At sunset, Muslims break their fast, usually with a big meal with family and friends. Muslim can eat and drink all through the night. In the nite many Muslims also attend the mosque, to engage in special night prayers called "taraweeh"
